Desert Banquet – A Year of Wisdom from the Desert Mothers and Fathers
by David G. R. Keller.
Desert Banquet explores the experiences of the ancient desert fathers and mothers and offers reflections on their meaning for twenty-first century believers. Twelve themes, one for each month of the year, will introduce readers to the spiritual food that nourished and shaped the lives and hearts of these desert elders. Although these themes demonstrate common values and practices, there was for them no single rule of life except the common ingredient of the Great Commandment: love of God and neighbour. Desert Banquet is neither a study of the lives of the desert mothers and fathers nor a how-to book on desert spiritualty. It is an opportunity to reflect, one day at a time, on their wisdom.
The group will reflect on several ‘days’ with a common theme at each session.
